Szunyog: Kosovo Government Must Be Ready to Face the Past
On Sunday, the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Thomas Szunyog, highlighted that the European Union strongly supports the work of The Hague-based Special Court of Kosovo, especially the fact that it does its job independently, Kosovo Online reported. “The Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor's Office were established by the Assembly of Kosovo as an independent judicial institution. It is important to keep in mind that the Specialist Chambers will not hold ethnic groups, organizations or communities accountable, but only individuals. In doing so, the Special Chambers will facilitate transitional justice and enable social progress, moving Kosovo forward on its European path. In this context, the co-operation of the Kosovo authorities remains crucial to demonstrate Kosovo's commitment to the rule of law and its readiness to face its past,” Szunyog said
